September 10 – Grandparent’s Day

By Lexi Myer

Grandparents Day Word CloudWhen I was young, one of my favorite things to do was to spend a week with my grandparents in the summer. They live on a farm in Northwestern Missouri that to this day is one of the most beautiful places to me. During the day, I would help my grandpa in his garden, pick berries, and feed the chickens. In the evening, I would cook and bake with my grandma, and end the night watching mine and my grandma’s favorite movie, Ever After.

My grandparents now are a huge support system for us. They are very supportive and involved in the ministry my husband works at, encourage us, and love on our kids. They host holidays at their home so my family and all of my extended family can gather to celebrate. They are two of the most incredible, generous, and humble people I have ever met.

Did you know that September 10th is Grandparent’s Day? I remember being in elementary school in Prairie Village, KS and having the chance to invite a grandparent to eat lunch with me to celebrate. It may have been a small thing, but the chance to show off your grandparent was one of the favorite days in our elementary school.

Are you planning on celebrating your grandparents and what they mean to you this year? We would love to hear about it! We would also love to hear your stories about memories with your grandparents, why you are thankful for your grandparents, or your stories of being a grandparent yourself.

Happy Grandparent’s Day!
