Did you get something sparkly for Valentine’s Day? Did you know that on most homeowner’s insurance policies losing a piece of jewelry is not covered? Even if it is, there is usually a limit on the amount that can be paid out on the piece that was lost.
So the million-dollar question is, how do you get your jewelry covered? With the home insurance policies that we write through MAX Insurance Agency, Inc. , jewelry can be “scheduled” onto a policy. So what does that mean? It means that we put it on your home insurance policy for the amount it is worth (current appraisals are sometimes necessary to determine this). By scheduling the jewelry, it will be covered in case you lose it — plus it would be covered with a $0 deductible to you. It does carry an additional premium to do this, but if it is lost or stolen, your current policy may not have enough coverage on your jewelry or any coverage at all.
Do you have jewelry that you are unsure if you have coverage or not? Call us at 877-971-6300 or email email@example.com to look into your options. And if you’re looking for home insurance options in the Overland Park, KS area, feel free to stop by!
