The pools are closed and school is back in session, which can only mean one thing: Fall is here and so are the festivities! There are various fall events throughout the Kansas City area that are enjoyable for all ages. Check out three of my favorite local festivals that you can enjoy with family and friends:
Shawnee Scarecrow Festival: Located at Shawnee City Hall on Saturday, October 1, the Shawnee Scarecrow Festival is a family oriented daylong event. Here you can enjoy several activities like painting pumpkins and building scarecrows. You can also walk around the farmer’s market and explore the talents of local chefs. There’s even a baking contest to show off your culinary skills.
Ciderfest: This fun, fall festivity takes place the last weekend of September and the first weekend of October at the Louisburg Cider Mill from 8am-6pm. Let the kids run through the corn maze and pumpkin patch while you sit back and listen to the live music. Top off your day at the cider mill with the apple cider demonstration, and enjoy a delicious, warm cider donut. If you can’t make Ciderfest, don’t worry! Louisburg Cider Mill is open year round.
Whimsical Woods: Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 8 to take a walk through Ernie Miller Nature Park’s Whimsical Woods. Costumed storybook characters come to life and entertain people of all ages along the trail. Reservations are required for the 1.5 hour walk.
I hope you get to take advantage of a local KC area festival and have a terrific fall!
