Exercising at Home

As we’ve started this New Year we are faced with our favorite thing of all… New Year’s Resolutions! According to an article on Statista.com 37% of people have included eating healthier and exercising more as part of their resolutions. So this begs the question, how can I find time in my life to exercise?

I’m one of those 37% that are trying to exercise more and eat healthier. I am in the middle of a large weight loss goal and have met my challenges along the way. The biggest of those challenges is how to find the time and to actually get a solid workout routine in the middle of a busy life. So what did I do when I couldn’t find the time to go to the gym? I started exercising at home!

There’s no denying exercising at home can be difficult. During the warmer months, you can use the outdoors for runs and walks, swimming at the lake, and going for a nice bike ride, but what can we do during these cold winter months? There are multiple apps that I’ve found for every level of fitness. I found that many of these apps gave me a good starting point from which I was able to build my own tailored exercise routine.

So what are your goals? I’ve included a quick list of my resources below for what worked for me and some suggestions for specific goals.

Looking for specific number of pushups/situps/pullups/etc? Check out the Zen Fitness apps, they have created a set of apps that will give you a detailed plan on how to get to your goal!

Wanting to run your first ever 5K? Check out C25K, standing for Couch to 5K this app provides a plan to meet your goal of running a 5K race without overzealously wearing yourself out from trying a run that’s too long for your current fitness level.

Don’t have much time? Check out 7 Minute Workout, the name explains itself!

What if you already have your own workout plan and just need to be better about keeping track of your workouts or need some encouragement along the way? The app EveryMove has helped me incredibly! With the option to join different groups and set your own goals it simply sends you the reminder of when to work out and helps to track your exercise. It also connects easily with other apps like FitBit or MyFitnessPal.
